consult request came in. wah. i'll go in early tomorrow to do it, when the attending on call this weekend will be in to cover the inpatient unit. she is otherwise notoriously difficult to get hold of during the weekends. tho of course as I type this, she calls to coordinate timing. lol.

the only good thing? this sort of thing happens fairly rarely.

1) Carbonite still isn't working. This is my frowny face. :(

2) It's starting to snow! Jason left to get a haircut, but the Escape handles hills pretty well. It has to be really icy for it to slide around.
Thing 2a = my hands are still really freaking cold.

Maddy went down for her nap a little over an hour ago, which let us put the hard top back on the jeep and I cleaned it out with Mr. Clean. Yay for lack of bugs in it, especially since I'll need to drive the jeep to get to work if it blizzards or if the roads ice over. My little Scion will never survive iced over hills. Maddy's still sleeping soundly, but i'm almost afraid to load up WOW and tempt fate. :) Carbonite wasn't working, and Rich thinks deleting and reinstalling may help. hopefully it did. I miss that mod oh so much. :D

actually finished all the k/m ideas I had. \o/ Of course I have that ST XI idea, tho I feel almost like it's an episode, and the OFC might be a Sue. Tho I have an ending for it as opposed to just a single scene, so we shall see. I still have the BDM AU fic I promised I'd write for mynuet, which will be epic, because I just write things that way. And there's the EOD sequel I should write, but I lack serious plot for. And the d/g idea that I had months ago that just petered out becuase other than the smexing, I have no idea what else will happen in it.

It's just after 4am and I'm awake. Why? Well my mom wanted me to get up at 7:30am to go Christmas shopping, and you do not wanna mess with me in the morning. So around 1am I decided to try and pull an all-nighter. I really wish I'd thought to take a nap earlier in the evening though. Right now Mt. Dew is all that's keeping me going. Also? I spent the last couple of hours putting together a new layout (whyyyyy do I do these things?) WITH AN ANIMATED HATTER/ALICE HEADER. OH YES. IT IS MADE OF WIN.

See, this layout maker said they couldn't make a header fit in, but you could put one in the spot reserved for the Minimalism sticky post. So it's in the sticky post slot, lol. Can any of you Canucks tell me if the final 3 eps of season 3 have aired? The last one that I saw was Ep. 5, "Lovesick," right around Thanksgiving.

There's nothing specific on GlobalTV.com as to a mid-season break, or when/if it's returning (or even if it already aired) but Guardfans.com has at least 3 more eps listed. (Of course, their air-dates are way off, but so are IMDb's--as is their season/ep listing--so I really have no idea what's going on.)

First off, thank you to hellbuny and cosmo_jenny for paid time. When I mentioned it the other day, I figured I would whine and deal until I actually had money. Now I can play with iconage until I have money. That's a thousand times better. :)

I checked with our program supervisor. Even tho there's just two fellows in the clinic in January, I can still take a Friday off. So woot! We're going to go to comcon! Tho likely we'll have to get our room. I sincerely doubt that another otacouple would want to put up with us AND all the baby tonnage we'd have to haul with us. Jay will ask his dad today if they can Indy-sit for that weekend. I'm glad mistresschimera clarified that we count as inactive staff. For a while there, I thought we weren't staff at all anymore. ^^; Maybe if the con is still around in a few years we can go back to active status. Right now our RL is still interfering with fannish stuff.

Speaking of which... Jay is still sick. He's not in the "deathly ill and needs three days off from work while he sleeps 20 hours a day" category with this cold at least. He only needed Monday off and he goes to bed a bit earlier than usual. wah. :(

It's a slow week, as hols are coming. This allows me to go overboard with the fanfic writing at work. So don't be surprised with the onslaught of chapters that will continue to take up my journal. :D

Yeah, I totally suck at waiting till The Day--Birthday, Christmahanukwanzakah, Un!Birthday, it doesn't matter--to open any gifts.

I had to use my Ronnie/Ben Icon because Ben is straight while Ronnie Gay (IRL. Fanfiction? Well, that's a whole other kettle of fish sausage).

In Kim Dare's Time to Do, Brennan is gay while Rigby is straight...but Brennan finds one of Rigby's "To Do" lists (which seems to have been written several years earlier, they're 20-21 now) and after the silly stuff like "Get Drunk" (which is checked) and "Go Skinny Dipping" (which is not), it says "Have Sex With a Girl" (which has numerous check marks to stand for all the different variations of such).

But to Brennan's surprise, it also has "Have Sex With a Guy." The first step? "Kiss."

So, Brennan kisses him. "No big deal," Rigby says. He knows Brennan's gay and and is cool with it (they've been friends since nursery school). But Brennan is SMART. He manages to talk Rigby into ANOTHER one by telling him that BEING kissed is totally different that GIVING/TAKING the kiss.

Rigby totally falls for it, and this is the part I couldn't help laughing my ass off over, because it might just be the funniest thing I have ever read and seriously sounds like "guy-reasoning":

"It was just a kiss. It was just a straight guy kissing his male best friend. There was nothing strange about that. It couldn’t be too strange, Rigby reassured himself, because right there, right then, the kiss felt sort of right.

...

Homophobic guys were the ones who weren’t comfortable in their own sexuality. Rigby never doubted that. He knew he was entirely comfortable with Brennan being gay because he was completely comfortable being straight.

Brennan gasped into the kiss and lapped at his lips, pleading once more for admittance. For the first time, Rigby realised he was so comfortable with the absolute knowledge he was straight, he could actually get a hard on kissing his best friend. Rigby adjusted the angle of his body so Brennan wouldn’t notice."*
